3 for 3

Just about every afternoon I head to the vending machine about 4:30. That’s about when I get hungry after lunch and figuring that I won’t be home until 5:30 at the earliest I go for a snack. Usually the item of choice is a pack of mini chocolate chip cookies. Today I went out and the vending machine guy had just stocked the machine and was working on the one next to it. I went and punched in my cookies and … THEY GOT STUCK. Everytime I get something from the machine there is always that tense moment right before it drops where you think you’re screwed. Nothing has gotten stuck my entire time at IBM. Of all the days the guy with the keys is standing right there and asks “Want me to get that for you?” I guess that’s just a natural response, no one is going to decline that offer. That was my one good luck for the day, I’m trying to be careful so that my luck doesn’t straighten itself back out.

An interesting article I saw today about a new Cingular offering, its called Escape-a-Date. I’m not sure if this is a joke. What it does is allow you to set a time when your phone will ring during a date. Then when you answer it will give you a tip of something to say. The example from the article: “Not again! Why does that always happen to you? … Alright, I’ll be right there.” Now tell ‘em that your roommate got locked out, and you have to go let them in. Good luck! This is pure genius, it says they have 8 variations, they need quite a few more than that to make this worthwhile but definitely a good start. You can read the article here.

Finally, ESPN Page 3 covers one of my favorite topics. First, as for Page 3 its not a regular stop for me. Page 2 is far enough and now that The Sports Guy has his own page I only visit occasionally. Page 3 focuses on entertainment I guess and have found no reason to check on it regularly. So back to what’s on there today. They list the at-bat songs for every player in the AL, at least the starters. This will prove to be an invaluable resource. You can find it here. This is also my eternal question … What would be my at-bat song? I’ve never been able to come up with the perfect song and when I do find it, then there will be nothing left to live for.

I should get back to my final co-op paper for PSU but as you can see I would rather write a page on here than describe what I did for the past 7 months.

Must Watch

Will Ferrell as Bush in an ad for America Coming Together.

American Dad Pilot – This is so cool that they are posting it online. With this coming out and Family Guy coming back Fox might become a good channel again. The Pilot is 6 minutes long and you get to meet all the characters. Its meant as an overview so its not nearly as funny as Family Guy but after the show gets started I’m sure it will come close. It could wind up being better than Family Guy. If you look at Simpsons and Futurama as far as funny goes I think Futurama is much funnier than the Simpsons, which *was* a better show overall.

Huh?

Perhaps after I leave here I will have much more to say. Seeing as the majority of my waking hours are spent at IBM that eliminates a lot of exciting things to talk about. I mean you really don’t want me to talk about work, trust me, remember last time when you didn’t listen?

Anyways, what’s good?

Umm, I watched Girl Next Door, that was good. I’m hooked on Amazing Race, now one of my favorite reality shows. I’d probably pick that as second to go on, behind Last Comic Standing of course (after I get an act). MTV has Wanna Come In? and Boiling Point, both of which could potentially destroy a weekend with a marathon. And Ali G is incredible, I didn’t even know about the first season, what’s wrong with everyone, why do I need to find these shows? The only other quality summer show that the Replay takes care of for me is Joe Schmo 2. Which so far has been way better than the first season, and that was great. The goal this year is to be as ridiculous as possible where any normal person would question the validity of the whole thing. But they just go along for the ride. Really the definition of reality TV, if they added a midget then Amazing Race would be in trouble.
