From 04: Phillies Photo Day

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

This one is pretty old but I never actually posted the video before. This video is from down on the field for Phillies Photo Day last May when I came home from Minnesota for Memorial Day. I used iMovie and tried to cut out many of the worthless parts (backs of heads, etc.). The video is in QT and Divx and is around 32mb.

Listen: Panic! At the Disco

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

Sunday morning music recommendation. Check out Panic! At the Disco. I’m terrible at describing bands. I’m filing this one in the fun pop-punk section, some techno beats (think hellogoodbye). AbsolutePunk lists similar artists at Fall Out Boy, The Acadamy Is, The Stereo, and Head Automatica. They also enjoy long song titles, such as “Lying Is The Most Fun You Can Have With A Girl Without Taking Her Clothes Off.” They are on the Nintendo Revolution tour (you know, the one with Fall Out Boy, Starting Line, and Motion City Soundtrack). They are on Fueled by Ramen, which I now officially like better than Drive-Thru. Look at this list of bands that have been on the label: Fall Out Boy, Less Than Jake, Punchline, The Acadamy Is …, Gym Class Heros, and Paramore.

Now With Divx

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

Still fooling around with my videos and learning how to do things on the Mac. I downloaded the beta of the new Divx for Mac (the old version doesn’t work on Tiger). So I figured I would give people a choice. I prefer Quicktime, but you might like Divx better. I’m trying to come up with settings that I will use consistantly for everything. The latest ones, small size (320×240, larger can be requested) and for Quicktime, h.264 video at 300kbps AAC audio at 64kbps, for Divx, video at 300kbps and MP3 audio at 96kbps. The Quicktime will always be slightly smaller because the AAC audio codec allows me to make it smaller. Don’t understand any of that, just watch and let me know if they work or not and how you like them. I’ll have some older ones up soon.

It’s So Easy: Putting Your Pictures Online and Blogging Them

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

A lot of what I do on my computer is way too complicated for any normal person, and why would any normal person even want to do 99 of it? But sometimes what I do is so simple that everyone should be able to do it. The hard part might just be knowing that it exists. So today i want to make sure you have a quality place to put your pictures up online and even use them to create a photo blog. If you were really crazy you might even make some general entries in said blog and start to feel a little bit like a geek.

A Montana Flashback?

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

Kelli brought this up at the tailgate after the game on Saturday. One of those odd From the Mind of Janke things I wrote Junior year. I should include in all these what made me want to write it. On Saturday I had forgotten that I had included a bit about the odd shpaed states. This just proves that I think of some very odd things when under the stress of having a lot of work. Must be why I’ve got nothin right now.

NCAA Football Computer Rankings

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

Can’t keep all those computer rankings straight? I cam across a site today that complies all of the rankings together, there are 41 of them on this page I believe. You can find a ranking to prove just about anything you want. The rankings are averaged out to give an overall ranking. As for Penn State, they are #29 overall but they are as high as #2 and low as #51. I’m not so sure how the poll came about that #2 ranking except that they took every undefeated team and hit random.

Put some pictures from this weekend on flickr. Kelli has a few others that hopefully I’ll remember to get from her and then I can add them. Let me know if you like pics this way on flickr.

Gameday @ Pitt

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005
Some of you saw my sister’s updated picture on Facebook and were curious as to where Nick Lachey came from. Here is the whole picture. ESPN Gameday was at Pitt for the Notre Dame Game. (I think they thought Pitt had a shot) If you’ve watched, Nick Lachey is on the show this year. Personally I’m not sure why. Stef went to Gameday because to remain my sister she had no other choice. She managed to meet Nick Lachey and get a picture. When they were getting ready to take the picture she saw Drew (Nick’s brother, also in 98 Degrees) standing off to the side and demanded he get in the picture. This is likely meaningless to those other than true 98 Degrees fans. For the football fans she also got a close up picture of Desmond Howard (not shown here cause I’m lazy).
