Jimmy Kimmel Live: The Pizza

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005

You’ve heard me discuss R. Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet, the DVD is currently in transit, and maybe even Kimmel’s “The Pizza”. This week (or last I can’t keep my episodes straight) Jimmy premiered Chapter 4 of the epic. It had been a long while since Chapter 3. When Chapter 3 premiered he said he hoped that it was the last one. R. Kelly has kept going so Jimmy has to keep up. Its actually just as good as R. Kelly’s. Hopefully there will be some DVD releases in the future. He also mentioned that they are all online and that got me pretty excited to share will all of you these amazing videos.

Here are the links to each chapter that is out so far:
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4

Pictures From This Weekend

Monday, November 7th, 2005
Posted my pictures from the weekend on Flickr (and stole some). This one here is so good people have even put it up as their background. Also some pictures from the ice rink, I stole these because I wasn’t going to take my camera and risk it being crushed when I fell. Turned out in my first trip ice skating I didn’t fall at all. Just tackled other people to the ice. More later.

Senior Game

Thursday, November 3rd, 2005

Headed to Penn State tomorrow for the, well I’ve lost count how many times its been. When I didn’t get season tickets I was not all that upset, I figured I would go to maybe two games. I wound up going to all but two, and probably would have been at those two had it not been for having Phillies tickets those first two Saturdays. This will also be my third meaningful season game. My Junior year we had to say goodbye to Dave and Ahad, except that we’ve since asked for that goodbye back from Ahad. Senior year it was goodbye to Kelli and me, both goodbyes retracted there. This year might be the real deal. Matt will finally graduate next month, at least that’s what he’s telling everyone. Without having his place to crash and no one else left to attend games with we may all be forced to face the fact that we are indeed alumni (as in you say Penn State instead of We Are).

This senior game has much to live up to. Two years ago we got there really early and had excellent seats. Excellent enough to join in on the ‘Ride the Bike’ Chants. If that means nothing to you then you will want to browse through the archives of the Greenwich site. Then last year was my favorite game as a student. It was all about the cardboard. They had cardboard at the game last week but most of the section decided to make paper airplanes or confetti. We utilized it for the amount of noise you could generate. Read last year’s cardboard entry, possibly my best entry of the whole A1 site.

Look for plenty of pictures Sunday or Monday, unless my camera is destroyed in an ice related accident.

Gillick?

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

Pat Gillick is the new GM, not sure how I feel about it. Thinking about the contenders the only person I would have been generally happy with was me, but they didn’t call me in for an interview. Gillick no doubt has had success in his career but its getting up there in age. (Yes, I cheer for a team with a 78 year old head coach.) The other part they keep mentioning is he will continue the ‘grooming’ process for Ruben Amaro Jr. I didn’t know the process had started and if it started with Ed Wade then I’m not so sure I want the process to continue. That’s all a few years and nothing to worry about yet.

Gillick will need to get to work immediately in order to fix this team, if that can even be done. I think this team is destined to win 86 games/year. Unless both Gavin Floyd and Cole Hamels make the rotation and are as good as we were told they were a few years ago. Starting pitching is the key. Replacing Bell and Lieberthal might win us a few more games and even get us a wild card but without a few dominant starters we won’t go past the first round. I’ll put Myers in to that category and let Lieber or Wolf pitch a Game 4 but we need more.

I’m excited for the off-season. We should be active and pop up in all sorts of ESPN.com rumors and get my hopes up unnecessarily, what else is that rumor mill for?

Overspending at Best Buy

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005

Today’s goal was to go to Best Buy and purchase R. Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet DVD. I know, I live quite the life. From what I remembered from the ad it was supposed to be $11.99, about what I am willing to pay. However at Best Buy there was no sign on it indicating it was on sale and the sticker said $17.99. I checked at the desk and he confirmed $17.99, I figured I must have been mistaken, 11 could have actually been 17. I was extra disappointed because on the back of the box it said there was commentary on the whole thing from R. Kelly. Really made me debate if the $6 price difference was worth it. But I decided against it.

I was so focused on R. Kelly I forgot about the massive amount of stuff that was released today which made Best Buy the most dangerous place I could have gone today. First off, the obvious one, Star Wars: Episode III. No debate about that one, pick it up. Over to the CDs. Blink 182′s Greatest Hits, which I mentioned yesterday. No desire for that. Right next to it was the Greatest Hits DVD, all 13 Blink music videos. I could not resist. Also on that CD display was Taking Back Sunday’s Tell All Your Friends re-release. It came out a few years ago but I never actually bought it. Plus, it had a bonus DVD with the music videos and some live acoustic videos. I know this is the kind of stuff that I said I never watch, but TBS is a special circumstance. So I picked that up as well. I decided that was enough to spend for the day.

On the ride home I popped the Taking Back Sunday CD in to the player. I probably haven’t listened to this CD the whole way through in about 3 years. It is absolutely amazing. One of the best written albums I have listened to. Listening to it I realized it was time to re-do my Top 5 albums. The videos on the DVD are also really good, there were 4 music videos from this album, only one of which I ever saw. I do think the DVD is screwed up though because the Live acoustic stuff and interview listed on the back are no where to be found. The Blink 182 DVD is also pretty impressive. Its just their videos, but 13 of them. Its no stretch to say over the past few years Blink has put out some of the best videos.

While I was writing this I found Trapped in the Closet for $10.79 on deepdiscountdvd.com (my favorite place since its cheap and free shipping). So it should be here next week.
