Put away the crack before the crack puts you away

Catching up on the movies I’ve seen recently.
Talladega Nights – Loved it. I fully expect it to get even better with future viewings.
Clerks 2 – On first viewing I found it funnier than Talidaga Nights. Yea, its that good.
V for Vendetta – Awesome.
The Thing About My Folks – My parents got this from Blockbuster and I was hounded all week that I had to watch it and that I’d really enjoy it. It was very good, if you’re looking for the type of movie parents would enjoy.

Before Talladega Nights there was a preview for the Borat movie. I’ve never seen an audience react that well to a preview. I can’t wait. There was also a trailer for Jackass 2. Its going to be a great Fall.

Vanilla Frostys have arrived in the area. My mom called me at work this week to inform me of the news. I went Friday night, and my verdict is that with M&M’s its fantastic.

Saturday morning I went into the city to pick up Lindsay and go on the Citizens Bank Park Tour. I made it from home to Jefferson in 35 minutes. The tour was amazing. Check out my pictures. Got to go on the field, in the dugout, the club house, press box, batting cage. All over. Even got to hold a Ryan Howard bat. In the clubhouse it was really funny to see all the players with their bobble heads. Chase had his right on top of his name.

The tour ran longer than scheduled. We had hoped to make it over to the Linc for that tour which started at noon. No such luck. However they will schedule group tours Mon-Sat for groups of at least 10. So stayed tuned for the planning of my next adventure.

After the tour we went to the newly opened Pita Pit in the city. Its located at 16th & Sansom. It was good but they are still rookies and I fully expect it to improve to State College standards.

I love that the X Games are back because on the Bottom Line you get to see things like “Dave Mirra out of X Games due to liver laceration.”

See if this makes any sense. I really enjoy the X Games, yet I rarely ever watch. I think its likely because its on during the Summer, which occasionally means I could be busy and at night I’m likely watching the Phillies instead.

I still don’t believe someone died on an episode of Punky Brewster

This morning driving by the house that had the refrigerator in the front yard (I’m not sure why its still there) the doors have been removed! Now the children can resume play.

Question of the Day

Haven’t had one of these in a while. I’ve been holding on to this one because it comes compliments of Kathleen and she wasn’t on the list until a few days ago (and I’m not sure if she has logged in so Matt you should let her know I used her question.

What canceled TV show would you want back on the air? And let’s say time doesn’t matter, because obviously a good show from a few decades ago might not work because the cast is dead. I don’t want to rule any of those out.

First thought for me would be Ed and Arrested Development. Since I’m only asking for one I think I have to go with Ed because it was great on so many levels. You can (if you try) find other good comedies. Now nothing comes close to AD’s style but still, its Ed. Come on.

Today I wanted to talk about falling asleep in the shower, or shower sleeping as I like to call it. I’m not sure if this is just me. This is more likely to happen the more tired I am. While I’m in the shower I will just drift off sometimes into thought, sometimes just nothing. A few minutes might go by and I seem to come to and think “I’ve been in here way too long.” This is why my shower time tends to approach girl length. The one positive of shower sleeping is the occasional Shower Thought of the Day, which today was, “I wonder if anyone else falls asleep in the shower?”

I also had one more point about the good One Ring. I was thinking how its sort of a hat tip. When a friend’s team screws up you can’t wait to bust on them. The One Ring is actually being nice to them in a way since you are not verbally assaulting them. When something good happens to a friend’s team you really don’t want to make that congratulatory phone call. You are really not happy for them. I called Evan after the Gators won the tourney last year, but I was actually rooting for them to win. I watched the clinching game of the 95 World Series with him and cheered for the Indians the whole time. When the Braves won, I had to act like I was happy for him.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this before, and should re-record the first show because of it. But if this girl of Evan’s is really a 9.4, what are the chances that her boyfriend is a Greek shipping heir?

On the way to work this morning someone had a refrigerator in the trash. And the doors were still on! Now maybe these were just dreams I had but I remember when I was younger all sorts of warning about not playing in refrigerators because you could get locked inside and die. So when throwing them out you were supposed to take the doors off. Was this just me? Help me out.

Today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten

Happy Shark Week!

Weekend Notes

I watched The Benchwarmers. Big fan. You all know my odd love for Rob Schneider movies. The strange thing is he plays a completely normal character in the movie while everyone else is insane. Nick Swardson co-wrote it and plays David Spade’s agoraphobic brother. Sean Salisbury also appears as one of the evil coaches. I’m not a Salisbury fan on ESPN but you need to see his performance in this. I don’t want to ruin anything, you’ll just have to believe me that its quality.

Next time I decide to have a party I’m going to get some commitments before announcing anything. Lindsay came to hang out for a while and Buck stopped in for a visit. That was the extent of the crowd.

Don’t ask me about the Abreu trade. Don’t. At least Bell and Lidle are gone.

Thoughts …

Matt owed me money for Dave’s wedding present. We didn’t get to take care of it in Pittsburgh. So no big deal, he was just going to mail me a check. He mailed it, I received it, no problems there. However, he sent just the check in the envelope. No note. Obviously I was expecting it and no explanation was needed. Still, in these situations I feel a note is required. Whenever I’m sending a check I will always include a note, even though it drives me nuts. I am more concerned with the note than the money I am sending. What are your thoughts on this? Is a note required or is just writing in the memo sufficient?

I went to dinner in Skippack Saturday night with Lindsay. On the menu at the diner we went to it said that breakfast is available all day. However, dinner is available only after 5pm. This bothered me. If you are will to make breakfast all day, why not dinner? Also, in my opinion, which may be controversial, I believe dinner is the most important meal of the day. So if anything is available all day, it should be dinner. If you want to go a step further you should eat dinner in the morning, just to get the most important meal out of the way.

This may be a bug in MLB 2K6. I guess it could be possible that someone could rob a home run over the Green Monster.

Nintendo Fusion Tour announced. Headliners this year are Hawthorne Heights and Relient K. The Philly date is October 4th at the Electric Factory.

A tribute to David Bell. He ___ be missed.

I decided to search for Schuylkill Pirates and found this. Those were the days.

An old Letterman clip where he worked the drive-thru at a McDonalds.

Trailer for The Departed. Martin Scorsese’s new movie. Some of the cast? Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin, and Mark Wahlberg. I guess it could have a chance.

Toynbee Tiles. I heard about this story on P&S. I have to be on the lookout now.
