Farewell Vet
The Vet is going to be imploded tomorrow. A very sad day in my opinion. It seems that just about everyone is excited to see the eyesore disappear and to move into the new homes. But it just won’t be the same. I went to the Linc this year, the place is amazing, nice, clean, new. Not where the Eagles should be playing. The Cit will be just as amazing I’m sure. But the Vet is the only place I’ve ever known for the Phillies. Here are some Vet memories of games and events I’ve been to (or missed).
1993 NLCS Game 6, Phillies beat Braves to go to the World Series
1996 All – Star Game
1996 Home Run Derby
Winter Carnivals and ALS Autograph/Auctions
Eagles vs. Cardinals, I don’t remember the year but it was the only Eagles game I saw at the Vet, it was Buddy Ryan’s first game back as coach of another team.
Having tickets to see Terry Mulholland’s no hitter in 1990 but not being able to go because of my Dad’s 40th birthday party.
A ton of Sunday afternoon games.
Countless number of games with Ben.
Hating that Darren Daulton hit a HR at every game I went to, my least favorite Phillie
Phillie Phanatic
Dave Lyon’s birthday party on fireworks night, Evan and I were unaware it was a birthday party until we got in the car to go.
I don’t remember my first Phillies game, I was probably really young.
Last game was this past summer with Evan against the Cardinals.
I’ll post this in the forum and you can share your Vet moments. I’ll add any more I think of. There are so many.
If you know anything about how long I usually take to get pictures up after a trip then you shouldn’t be holding your breath for these Spring Break pictures. You shouldn’t be excited anyway, it’s the same stuff as last year. That means the important stuff is my recap/summary and that is going to take a while.
