Thursday

Thursday was a slower day than we were used to. We kept the day lite in anticipation for getting up in the middle of the night and driving to Daytona. Today Andrea was heading home. That was the extend of the planned activity during daylight hours. Before she left there was a very strange visitor at the door. The car was out back and the garage door was open so that Andrea's stuff could be loaded into the car. Some lady knocked on the door and asked Evan about the screened in pool and how it was done. It came with the house Evan told her. She then asked if they were moving. He told her no and she said she just thought that since the garage door was open. Well, you know, the international sign of moving is an open garage door. There was no truck, did she think we were going to load everything into the Galant? We drove Andrea to the airport a little while later. When we arrived, we found out that her plane was delayed an hour. That isn't too bad, we kicked ourselves for not checking before we left. An hour isn't too long and the car was sitting in the parking lot and that isn't cheap. We said our goodbyes and sent her on her way. When we got back we checked on her flight and it had been delayed another hour. Apparently the plane that she was supposed to fly on had been hit by lightening and they were waiting until they could get another plane. She made it back safely. It was back to Evan and me. When we came back it was lunch time, we were quite hungry and didn't want to get hungry later and have to spend a lot eating out so we had a multi-course meal that consisted of chicken fingers, ham & cheese, Hawaiian Punch, and more that I can't remember. Next on the agenda was another softball game. Jess drove us over. She was back from her cruise and decided to join us. I don't know what she was thinking going on a cruise when she could have hung out with us and watched baseball all week. The Celebration softball team played much better and got a win. Corie managed to not hurt herself and again Grandpa showed up at the end of the game and sat down mere seconds after the final out. After the game is was time for our Segway lessons. We had been begging Mrs. C for a few days and finally we got our chance. We were only allowed to use the beginner key, which has a 6.5mph speed limit. We all started off very slowly. Its very strange letting the Segway keep balance for you and simply leaning to go forward or backwards. Even though you are barely moving at first it feels like its going to get out of control and you may die. After a little while you start to feel like you get it and you can stop where you want and not look scared. Getting off also takes some getting used to. It was a lot of fun. I think I need one to get around campus.

Last minutes tips from Mom.

And he's off, slowly.

Mrs. C making sure i don't die.

Slow going.

Jess picked it up right away.

Now we're rolling.

Expert, almost.

The plan for the night was night Spring Training Baseball. Quite a rarity. The Braves were taking on the Devil Rays. It was good to see Travis Lee and Marlon Anderson again. The Phils sent them packing and the Devil Rays were proud to reunite them and give them starting jobs. A very sloppy game with lots of errors. Jess' main goal was trying to figure out how she could pick up some of the players. She never accomplished her goal. We decided to leave early but as we were walking out the crowd started cheering loudly. We went back to see what was going on and John Smoltz was on the mound. We had to stay for that. Then we went home to switch to Evan's car so that we could Gas & Fuel for the trip to Daytona. The car was low on gas and we needed plenty of sugar products and anything to keep us awake. Look at the picture below for all the goods we came back with. I won this day of LPB, cutting Evan's lead to 3-2.

When we got home for good we watched the ReplayTV since we missed Friends and Will & Grace. Will Ferrell was on, he wasn't as good as we expected. We went to bed with plans of getting up at 3am to drive Mrs. C to Daytona.
