Week in Email

I started my daily emails of stuff I find during the day and anything I might think of. It really started on Monday because there were a few Super Bowl related details to discuss. There wound up being 13 emails that day with Matt, Caitlin, Ahad, Dave, Janos, Kelli, and Evan all contributing. It added some much needed excitement to the day. There wasn’t as much of a response to my emails the rest of the week, but even a little bit is enough. Here a look back. I’ve removed some stuff and added some notes. If you don’t currently receieve the daily email and would like to be added to the list then let me know. You know you want to, no one has asked to be removed (that’s likely because they don’t want to hurt my feelings).

Monday
I have a separate post for that.

The crowd at the Nova-St. Joe’s game is so bad Jay Wright’s wife won’t take their son. Can I have his ticket?

I haven’t thought about Rick Tocchet in a while. **I didn’t realize it would blow up, I just thought it was funny that Rick Tocchet was in the news.**

Google for Dummies is actually a book and its over 300 pages.

Google today put IM capabilities into Gmail. I can’t access Gmail while I’m at work but it sounds like its along the same lines as something someone came up with about a year and half ago. **More on this when it gets added to my Gmail.**

Wednesday

Sometimes I like to think Hootie & his Blowfish wrote their songs just for me.

I like that there is some sunlight when I leave the house in the morning now and by the time I get to work the sun is pretty much up. However, I’m concerned this will cause people to leave earlier and cause me to have to deal with more traffic.

I signed up to recruit at PSU and Lehigh, hopefully they’ll check my internet activity and find how much recruiting research I did last week. If I would have found the form last week maybe they would have let me go to the SWE Career Fair yesterday. **Ahad went with the Larry Johnson comparison for Recruter of the Year, I was expecting a Head Recruiter McQueary joke.**

With Tony getting a new gig we need to find something for Wilbon so Ahad and I can finally take over on PTI. **Ahad was pleased, Matt was concerned until we told him he could be Stat Boy.**

Tirico could be good but he has to deal with Theisman and Kornheiser. I think Kornheiser is a great pick but as a team I’m a little nervous.

Matt saw somewhere its adopt a Rabbit Day, so ummm, get to it. I’m going to pass, unless I find one that will do my dishes.

Bill Nye got married.

TV Tonight: Minnesota @ PSU, 8pm on WFMZ and WPSU. WFMZ (Channel 69) has been solid picking up all these ESPN-Plus games this season. A step up from their usual Patriot League coverage.

Don’t forget, Hello Kitty iPod cases are not punk rock. **You need to listen to the MC Lars song ‘Hot Topic is Not Punk Rock.’**

Thursday - I Have Visions I Was In Them (from Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger)

This morning was the first time I went to the 1st snooze since I started working. This is not a good sign. However I stayed up much later than I wanted to, if I can get to bed at 8:30 every night things will be just fine. **I didn’t hit the snooze on Friday.**

You learn a lot about yourself driving into work so early in the morning. Some things that you may not have been prepared to know. Today I found that I know the majority of the words to Michelle Branch “All I Wanted” and at 6:40 in the morning, I’m not afraid to sing along.

I enjoyed the marching bands of KW State and JFU. As for other stuff from the Grammy’s … Fall Out Boy didn’t win Best New Artist, I didn’t except them to, but I’ve never heard of the guy who did. Ciara was also up for the award, next year she’s likely to be nominated for Best Halftime Performance. How come if U2 is eligible they automatically win the award? This seems to happen every year. In case you’re wondering I like U2 about as much as I like Coldplay, maybe less.

I figured Penn State would lose to Minnesota last night. They hung with them pretty well until Minny started hitting a bunch of open 3s. They are the Notre Dame of our conference an absolutely terrible conference record but really they’ve just been unlucky.

If South Carolina is playing UF in any sport, pick the Gamecocks. Sorry Evan. **Mike reminded me I forgot the Spurrier curse.**

The employee store, which is where I buy my Wawa chocolate every morning, is right next to the room I’m in. Its convenient but if it was in the other end of the building that turns from a 1 minute trip to a 10 minute trip.

All of the rest rooms have automatic paper towel dispensers. However, each one gives you a different amount. Some of them give you way too much and some not enough. There needs to be a standard. I know you’re wondering … the faucets are not automatic which means we do not have the automatic rest room trifecta.

GSK CEO is staying past retiring. Nothing special here, but I built laptops for him and his wife.

Friday - 100% Reason to Remember the Name (from Remember the Name by Fort Minor)

Mike asked yesterday if these would continue after I started on my program. The answer is that I really want to find out.

One morning I want to buy ice cream from the employee store. No one ever buys it and it would be that much stranger to buy it at 7am.

The promotion is over but how did I not hear about it. 32 Wendy’s drinks for a plane ticket, 64 for a round-trip.

These are always fun stories. This one is especially fun.

I’m sure you heard ABC traded Al Michaels to NBC. NBC could have done much better, they could have gotten rid of some of their dead weight as well. The could have sent Jimmy Roberts or ‘Joey.’
